2010 Trash Pickup

Sanitation stickers are now on sale at the Town Hall, weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.  All residences in West Wyoming must purchase a sticker. The cost remains the same as last year, $200.00.  If purchased before January 31, 2010, senior citizens (65 and older) will receive a $25.00 rebate ($175.00), all others receive a $15.00 rebate ($185.00). If purchased from February 1-28, 2010, the full price will be charged, $200.00.  After February 28, 2010, the cost will be $300.00 for the year and citations will be filed with the District Magistrate for noncompliance with the Ordinance.

This fee allows residents a weekly three container collection, weekly recycling, and the curbside yard waste composting and leaf program. There will be no bulk item pickup this year.  Stickers are also available through the mail: West Wyoming Borough Building, 464 West 8th Street, P.O. Box 4035, 464 West 8th Street, West Wyoming PA 18644. For the added convenience of residents, Visa, MasterCard and Mac are accepted.

Recycling in West Wyoming

Recycling containers will be available behind the borough hall on Wednesdays to collect corrugated cardboard, newspapers and commingled items. Acceptable items are liste below:

Cardboard: Corrugated cardboard consists of only cardboard with a ribbed section between two heavy layers of cardboard is acceptable. No other type of cardboard, no wax coated or food-contaminated will be accepted. NO PIZZA BOXES.
Commingled Recyclables: These consist of glass, metal and plastic, bottles cans and jars only. They are to be placed in recycling bins. Types of glass collected are green, brown and clear bottles and jars only. No glass from mirrors or windows will be accepted. Types of plastic collected are any plastic bottle or jar with the numbers 1 or 2 on the bottom in the chasing arrow triange. The only exceptions are motor oil and antifreeze containers. These should be placed in the regular trash. Remove all lids from bottles and jars, and place them in the regular trash. All metal cans, including aluminum, tin and bi-metal will be collected. Please rinse all bottles, jars and cans. Crush the plastic and metal, but do not break the glass.
Newspapers: Newspapers are to be placed in the recycling container.
BULK PICKUP
Residents may call Waste Management's toll free number 1-800-222-2028 to Pre-Pay and Pre-schedule any BULK items they want Waste Management to take on their service day. The Waste Management driver must have a ticket with the resident's address and item detail before it will be taken. Items Considered Bulk: Refrigerators, Air conditioners, De-humidifiers, couches, chairs, mattress & box spring (considered 1 item), furniture in general, lawn mowers (all gas and oils must be removed), lawn furniture, swimming pools, construction material (dry wall, wood). Waste management cannot take: oil based paints, stains, chemicals, batteries, tires, concrete, bricks or blocks. No hazardous type waste.

 

Yard Waste
Yard waste is to be placed in an open container. Do not use plastic bags or it will be refused. Containers are not to weigh more than 30 pounds. Use as many containers as necessary and separate full garbage cans of grass clippings into two half full containers. Yard waste consists only of the following materials: shrubbery or grass clippings an tree limbs. Tree limbs are not to exceed 3 feet length or 1/2 inch diameter. Limbs should be bundled, tied and placed in an open-container. Rocks, stones, dirt and animal waste are not acceptable forms of yard waste. Any yard waste containing unacceptable materials will not be collected.
